COMELEC Gives Honorarium to 75% of BETs

Only about 75% of the more than 2,000 teachers in the entire Cagayan de Oro who served during the last Barangay and SK Elections have received their honorarium starting last Tuesday.

The Commission on Elections are still distributing the P2,000 honorarium
to the remaining 25% of teachers who were members of the Board of Election Tellers last elections.

Berna Quiambao of the City Comelec said that they have started distributing the teachers’ honorarium last Tuesday.

Quiambao said that an additional P500 will be given to teachers who were assigned to precinct were there was also an SK election.

The distribution of the honorarium was delayed because of unknown reasons only Comelec Manila knows, said lawyer Palmer Palamine, acting City Comelec Officer.

Palamine also asked for understanding and even apologize the teachers for the delay.

“Nangayo jud ko nila (maestra) og pasaylo tungod ky ako nang gipasa tanan ang mga panginahanglanon ngadto kang Comelec Regional Director Renato Magbutay og gahulat ko sa aksyon sa Central Office,” he said.

“Naluoy biya jud ko nila. Kung may kwarta pa lang ko nga daog sa lotto, ako na na silang gihatagan tungod gasige biya pud sila og follow-up dire sa office,” he added.

A total of 2,391 teachers served as members of BETs of the 797 precincts of the city during the last Barangay and SK Elections.
